 GLP-1 medications are typically prescribed for adults with:

• A BMI of 30 or greater
or
• A BMI of 27 or greater with a weight-related medical condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or prediabetes.

These are the standard criteria used in many medical settings and by most insurance providers.

That said, eligibility isn’t determined by BMI alone.

In some cases, individuals who may not meet traditional insurance-based criteria may still be appropriate candidates for medically supervised GLP-1 support.
